Splinter is dead

I'm not even going to go into details about how we caught the rat and how the last moments of his life were. It ended up being alittle too much that me & Carson (well Carson mostly, cuz he had to do the dirty work) wanted to tackle. So Splinter has gone bye bye, and let's hope theres no babies or any of his friends hanging around. I'd like to enjoy my outdoor area again with out feeling all icky.

RAT a tat tat

The other morning while Carson was outside he could hear some scratching, but wasn't sure where it was coming from. At first he thought it was me inside the house, he listened carefully and discovered it coming from the bar-b-que. Not wanting to tackle it alone he called for me for back up. Great help I am, I stood behind the door, peering out ready to run. It was still too dark out so we decided that when we get home from work we'll do more investigating. Later on when we both got home we cracked open a beer and grabbed the broom & headed outside. Carson had the broom, ready to whack anything that may jump out and I had the camera, and on the count of 3..........Here's what we found:

GROSS! GROSS! GROSS!

Sure has made itself a cozy little home , hasn't he? Well sorry little buddy, as cozy as you may be it's time for you to move along. Carson bought some traps, so now we just wait and see. At least we now have a excuse to buy on a new bar-b-que. Stay tuned for the ending to our rat saga.

MMMMmmmm, Salsa

On the weekend me and my sweet little mama finally did some canning together. I've never canned before and have been wanting to try canning something. Mom of course has done alot of canning over the years so it wasn't all that exciting to her. But I kept on her and told her what a great memory it will make, just you and me(and Dad occasionally popping his head in...., hi by the way Dad) So Mom agreed and we decided on salsa, which is a staple in our home. Haven't tasted it yet, sure hope it's good. It's always a crap shoot with that sorta stuff, especially when it's a first time trying a recipe. So if you don't get a jar, it could mean it was not very good or was really really good and we ate it all. Thanks for the memory Mama:)

Fall time is here

We are back from our summer holidays and just in time as it seems our summer weather has left us suddenly. But I have to admit September is my favorite month, and not only because my birthday happens to fall in it, I love the comfort feeling that comes with fall. The wearing of cozy sweaters and slippers, sipping tea and reading a good book all wrapped up in a blanket, and let's not forget having a relaxing HOT bubble bath. The air just seems to me to be fresher in fall, when the hot humid air isn't keeping all the pollution in.

Our holidays were great, just what we both needed.
We decided that on our way up to Wms Lk we would take the long scenic route, the Squamish Pemberton way. So the picture to the left is us making our way over the Port Mann, slooowwly. But once we got over it..... finally, things were smooth sailing, until the sweltering heat hit in the after noon, right around the time we were pulling into Lytton, one of the hottest driest spots to be in BC with no air conditioning. UHG!

Being back in Wms Lk was great, had a blast visiting with friends and family. It's always so busy when we go back, trying to divide your time so you can visit with everyone but it's worth every minute of it. I miss my friends from back home very much so any amount of time I get to chat and
get brought up in what's going on in our lives means alot.

Before we left to Wms Lk me and Carson decided to be a tourist in our own back yard. We've heard alot about Steveston, that it's a "cute" little fishing community and has some neat shops. Who would have known that the day that we chose to go would be BC Sardine Fest. Who would have EVER thought there would be such a thing.! The line up to buy sardines was ridiculously long! Sure am glad we didn't miss out on that and we recommend Sardine fest to everyone, ha ha. If nothing else go for the cotton candy.

We went the next day to Lynn Canyon to do some hiking and check out the suspension bridge. We both really liked it there, hiking trails were awesome and in great shape, the bridge was neat, glad I went across. Heights, especially being suspended from something that's wooden, very old and shakes back & forth alot, kinda freaks me out abit. I was doing great, even stopped in the middle to pose so Carson could take a picture. But this group of runners came barreling onto the bridge shaking it something crazy that I felt my heart skip abit, so I quickly held on and scooted across to safety. So needless to say no picture thanks to the crazy bridge runners.

Now we are home and back to our normal day in and day out lives. Thanks to everyone in Wms Lk for your hospitality, great food and great company. See you next time we are in the need of some R&R.
